So yesterday was our shoot with the lovely Rosie Fortescue from Made In Chelsea. I contacted Rosie as I have always thought she has a beautiful face for makeup; clear porcelain skin, big eyes, full lips and great bone structure. I put my ideas and concepts together re the styling and image finish, and to my delight she loved them and was totally on board to go with it. I wanted to do a Black & White series, with the finished edit having a slight grained effect to give it a more classical movie-esk feel. I wanted the makeup to be enough that you’d see it through the black and white filters, therefore didn’t want to do any blended soft eye makeup as this simply wouldn’t have been as prominent as I wanted.
Therefore I stuck to strong brow, classic eyeliner flicks with lots of lashes, finished with heavily contoured cheekbones and red lips. Of course in colour, this look would have been far too much for a colour shoot. But had to constantly bear in mind the fact that the images were going to end up in black and white.
The styling I wanted to be as high fashion as possible, but still keeping an essence of Rosie about it. It was nice to take her away from the prim styling and go a little bit more fashion goth. Her hair we kept down to start with, by thickening it up with extensions and waves, but finished the shoot with a very cool messy fishtail plait (which I MUST learn to do myself).
I pulled in my fabulous team of creatives, being of course my partner in crime, photographer Ruth Rose, the wonderful Zoey O for hair and top stylist Victoria Claire. :)
Here were my ideas that she loved and was happy to work with – edits coming soon!
