My First Video Tutorial: AW13 Lips…

25 Feb

ZacPosen_NYFWAs many of you may know, I’ve been deliberating about jumping into the world of video tutorials. I’m more than confident in front of a camera in a professional environment and crew, however, the thought of talking to myself in a handheld camera for some reason didn’t sit right with me.

However, after a little pressure was applied by the online fashion magazine that I write for, Byoutifulyou.com, decided I needed to take the plunge. I thought I’d dip my toes in first and do a video without me talking and just making use of captions. I’m sure in time I’ll be happy enough to brave the sound of my own voice, but for now I think this works!

Anyhoo, back to the video. Taking my inspiration for Fashion Week, decided to do a short vid on how to create vamped up lips. It’s currently being seen on so many designer runways at Milan Fashion Week AW13 (such as Emporio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana) that it seemed the right thing to start off with – and all you need is a brown eyeliner (yep, you heard right) and a red lipstick!

So here it is, enjoy!

Emma Louise Lookbook

18 Feb

Today I worked on a regular client of mine, Emma Louise London for her latest Lookbook shoot.

As always, the day was great fun. The team consisted of myself for hair and make-up, Ruth Rose for photography, and Emma and her team for direction and overseeing the images. Our gorgeous model, Silvia was from First Model Management and certainly made our work very easy!

From my perspective, our model, Silvia, was perfect. She had beautifully clear skin, amazing contours and gorgeously full lashes, brows and lips. A dream model face!

My Brief: A messy top knot (to be made to look as though the model had pulled it up herself) and deep berry lips with ‘naked’ contoured eyes.

On top of that, Silvia really helped compliment the quirky collection from Emma Louise. This seasons theme was ‘Ballerina’. With the Ballerina print cleverly looking like the very popular Cross images that seems to be everywhere at the moment. So that alone makes the collection much more interesting.

The materials hung beautifully off of our model, with materials that would drape and flatter any figure.

Moving confidently in front of the camera, we managed to whip through a number of pieces and looks, finishing well ahead of schedule!

Shoot with a Sugababe!

12 Feb

Me_HeidiRange

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working the the beautifully sweet Heidi Range from the girlband Sugababes.

The first thing that struck me was how tiny she was and her lovely sunny smile! She has a gorgeous figure too… I’m definitely NOT jealous! :P

To work with she was a dream as she had no preferences as to what I did with her make-up and trusted me to work my magic.

I didn’t do anything too ‘fashion’ and decided to just give her a beautiful make-up so that it didn’t take away from the rest of the set up and styling.

On set she was confident and openly admitted to preferring shots of her smiling. Which we all agreed worked best as she looked at her most relaxed when she flashed us her teeth!

All in all a great days work and can’t wait to see the edits.
