Artdeco Mineral Fluid Foundation

30 Jan

I wanted to blog about Artdeco Mineral Fluid Foundation as so many of my brides compliment how beautiful it feels on their skin.

I’ve never been a believer of caking on makeup just because it’s your wedding day. If anything, a bride wants to feel as natural as possible, while still looking like they have makeup on and feeling extra special.

My secret to creating the perfect makeup for such a special day, is to leave my brides feeling as though I have barely put anything on, yet when they look in the mirror are impressed with how healthy their skin looks. No one wants to feel as though they’re being stared out for the wrong reasons…

For this, I have Artdeco Mineral Liquid Foundation to thank. Every time I use this product on my brides, I get nothing but compliments on how light it feels, while still creating the perfect coverage to even out skin tones and cover any skin imperfections.

So here’s the scientific bit as they describe it:

Natural silky make-up with minerals

A visibly even, glowing complexion will be achieved by the new Mineral Fluid Foundation. It is the liquid alternative to the classic Mineral Powder Foundation. The formulation contains the mineral smithsonite, whose natural shine sets itself apart from the other minerals. The crystals of this special minerals give the skin a special shining power. Zinc oxide counteracts inflammation and boosts the regeneration ability of the skin. This and the natural light protective ingredient Titanium dioxide protect the skin against sun induced skin aging.

Free of talk or preservatives and fragrance-free. Suited for sensitive skin.

Chinese Inspiration for the Bodog Event @ Amika London

28 Jan

Last night I worked at Amika London for an event for Bodog. I was booked as part of a team, working with the likes of  Karla Powell of whom I’ve wanted to collaborate with for a while and Head Makeup Artist Michelle Court… it was a great bunch of ladies who all pulled together to make up approx 30 models!

Our theme was Chinese style, and so here is the look that was created to each model. Artdeco Couture kindly provided me with their gorgeous lashes that looked beautiful with the finished result:

Behind The Scenes: Beauty Test Shoot

22 Jan

Today I worked on a Beauty Test shoot with internationally published fashion photographer Josh Carroll, fashion and celebrity hair stylist Jay Brookes and gorgeous model Joanna Philips from Profile Models.

It was one of them days where we just went with the flow, had a brief idea of what we wanted to achieve but generally just did whatever our creative minds wanted to do.
For me personally, this was more about creating beautiful makeups, despite it becoming slightly garish at times. I wanted to focus on getting the skin perfectly flawless, which was achieved using Artdeco Mineral Liquid Foundation before adding the colour to the eye, lips and cheeks (a mixture of MAC, Artdeco and Rimmel shades). Saying that, we had a bit of a 1920′s theme going on at certain points, which I absolutely loved and which seemed to work beautifully with the hair that Jay had created.

So, here are a few shots from the day… Edits coming soon!

Shoot with Lucy Pinder

20 Jan

Image taken from Twitter: @LPinderOfficial

Yesterday was our Lingerie test shoot with Lucy Pinder. After taking me 3.5hrs to get to Ruths, which is usually a 1.5hr journey (just as well I planned for such a disaster on the roads and left ridiculously early), we finally got into the swing of the day.

Our initial plan was to create more of a commercial fashion look with Lucy as opposed to a traditional lingerie shoot. Of course, lingerie is where she excels, so it would be rude not to use this to our advantage, but with the clever styling by the amazing Nadine and Anton, lighting set ups and photography from Ruth, hair by Zoey and me doing makeup, we pulled together some truly gorgeous shots… not to mention her natural beauty. Always makes our job easier!

We stuck to the original gritty theme. Hair was dampened, I used a lot of gloss on the eyes and SFX Sweat down her chest. Lighting was made quite harsh and high contrast and the stylists used some great metal textured accessories, my favourite being a glitzy cropped blazer that picked up the lighting perfectly.

Lucy was so easy to work with, happy to try anything and was very laid back about the shots, which was lovely as it left us to create our vision without any restrictions.

I can’t post any images yet, but of course the second I can… I will!
